Swedish singer-songwriter Snoh Aalegra has been on many must-watch lists for a while now. Cultivating a twisted, bluesy soulfulness, Aalegra’s newest debut full-length project FEELS finally comes out after years of drawing out a series of incredible singles. FEELS is a 13-track album that sounds like a romance-driven soundtrack to some type of sexy mission-chasing Bond movie, while featuring big names like Logic, Vic Mensa, Vince Staples, and Timbuktu. Aalegra also gained traction this year after being sampled by Drake on More Life’s “Do Not Disturb.” In FEELS, however, Aalegra is a stylistic star who needs no help being uplifted. Standout tracks like “You Got Me,” “Fool For You,” and “FEELS” are ambitiously modern love ballads that secure the singer’s place as an essential descendent of the likes of Amy Winehouse and Sade. In addition to impressively highlighting the voices in contemporary hip hop, FEELS is without a doubt a feel-good project that begs to be played on repeat on a night in by the fire.
